An early 19th century Regency mahogany wine cooler attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London, this is a lovely little wine cooler which would could also be used as a planter if a suitable size container could be found to line it. The proportions of this wine cooler are very nice and the design and execution of the leg is especially fine, with a reeded section which is shaped as well as tapered. The lead lining is worn so probably not watertight any more but it does look to be original and there is an interesting plug which is now seized, but might undo with some patience.
English circa 1815
