An Early Nineteenth Century Games Table by Gillows of Lancaster and London
Share
Very fine quality early 19th century mahogany antique chess and cards table made by Gillows of Lancaster and London. The chess board is a very welcome addition to the normal card table format and this table also has a useful drawer instead of the usual cavity that would have been accessed by the offset swivel. The legs are the classic Gillows design from the pattern book, the drawer lining is made of mahogany, the casters are Cope's and the timber and construction are second to none as one would expect from Gillow. This table was bought by the previous owner from renowned antique shop Quiet Street Antiques in Bath for £3250 and the shop ticket from that purchase is included in this sale.
