This pair of card tables are made of a very fine cut of mahogany and it looks as if both tops are made from the same piece of timber. When placed side by side the grain appears to run from one to the other (see photos). There is boxwood and ebony stringing around the top and legs, and on the frieze it is arranged so as to give a slight 3D effect. They are a pleasing shape overall, well made and with two legs on each that move. They are in very good condition with flat tops and well preserved joints. In fact the only thing that looks a bit worn is the baize and that can be changed of course. It goes without saying that they look a lot better in real life than they do in these photos. George III period and very good value.
