Fine quality games table in the form of a sofa table with reversible top panel which has a chess board inlaid on one side and opens to reveal a backgammon tray within. The chess board and backgammon tray can be removed to use elsewhere or used in situ. The backgammon tray is fitted with the most wonderfully detailed felt playing surface and it is in very good condition indeed.


Attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London circa 1830.
There are two tables with similar top section in Susan Stuart's book, one of which has the same ormolu caster feet, both made by P. Fearnley.
