Great quality low linen press with drawers attributed to Gillows. This one is earlier and better than they usually are, it has the right knobs, very good construction with fine dovetailed drawers and panelled doors and back, the top is a single piece of timber, they have used the best choice of mahogany all round and it is in good condition with great patina. The bolts are the earlier sort which are square in section and they retain much of the original gilt. There is writing under the two top drawers, possibly the cabinet maker's name. It is a useful size, being not to deep front to back and low enough not to crowd a bedroom, corridor or even dining room if required. Provenance from Glympton Park, Oxfordshire, circa 1820.
107cm high
